Hercules kills the Water Snake
When the king saw Hercules he was astonished. “I will give Hercules a harder task,” he said. The next day the king told Hercules to go and kill a terrible water snake with nine heads. The water snake lived in a den near a fountain. Hercules picked up his bow and arrows and set off. He took Iolaus with him. Iolaus was a brave boy. After a long walk they reached the fountain. Suddenly the terrible water snake with nine heads came out of its den. The snake lashed its tail, and every mouth hissed loudly.

헤르쿨레스를 본 왕은 놀랐습니다. “나는 헤르쿨레스에게 좀 더 어려운 과제를 주겠다.” 왕이 말했습니다. 다음 날 왕은 헤르쿨레스에게 가서 머리가 아홉 개 달린 무서운 물뱀을 죽이라고 말했습니다. 물뱀은 샘 가까이에 있는 굴에 살았습니다. 헤르쿨레스는 활과 화살을 집어들고 길을 떠났습니다. 그는 아이올라우스를 데리고 갔습니다. 아이올라우스는 용감한 소년이었습니다. 오랫동안 걸어서 그들은 샘에 도착하였습니다. 갑자기 머리가 아홉 개 달린 무서운 물뱀이 굴에서 나왔습니다. 뱀은 꼬리를 휘두르며, 아홉 개의 입에서는 크게 쉭쉭 소리를 내었습니다.
