W: hello, Mr. Meyers’ Office. This is Janet Speaking.

M: Good afternoon. My name is Doug Thomas, and I’d like to speak with Mr. Meyers if he’s got some time.

남: 안녕하세요, 제 이름은 더그 토머스인데, 마이어스 씨가 시간이 된다면 얘기를 좀 하고 싶습니다.

W: I’m terribly sorry, Mr. Thomas, but Mr. Meyers isn’t in the office at the moment. Is there something I can help you with?

여: 토머스 씨, 정말 죄송합니다만 마이어스 씨는 지금 사무실에 안 계십니다. 제가 도와드릴 일이 없을까요?

M: Well, I’m scheduled to meet Mr. Meyers at 10:30 tomorrow morning. Unfortunately, something has come up at our office in Atlanta, so I’ve got to leave town this evening and won’t return until Thursday.

남: 음, 내일 오전 10시 30분에 마이어스 씨를 만나기로 되어 있어요. 안타깝게도 애틀랜타 사무실에 일이 생겨 오늘 저녁에 출장을 가야 해서 목요일까지 돌아오지 않을 겁니다.

W: I see. In that case, shall I tell Mr. Meyers you’re going to cancel your appointment?

여: 알겠습니다. 그럼 마이어스 씨께 약속을 취소하실 거라고 말씀 드릴까요?

M: I’d prefer not to cancel but instead merely postpone it. I really need to meet him about our project.

남: 제가 바라는 건 취소가 아니라 그냥 연기를 하는 겁니다. 저희 프로젝트에 관해 마이어스 씨를 정말 만나야 하거든요.

W: Yes, I’ve heard him discussing it in the office, so I’m aware of the nature of the work you two are doing.

여: 네, 사무실에서 마이어스 씨가 그 논의를 하시는 걸 들어서 두 분이 하시는 작업의 성격을 알고 있습니다.

M: Great, so do you think Mr. Meyers can meet me this Friday?

남: 잘 됐군요. 그럼 마이어스 씨가 이번 주 금요일에 저를 만날 수 있을 것 같으세요?

W: Actually, I’ll have to wait until he returns to the office. I’m not exactly sure of his schedule, so I need to ask him. Why don’t I have him call you when he gets back?

여: 사실은 마이어스 씨가 사무실에 돌아오실 때까지 기다려야 합니다. 그 분의 일정을 정확히 알 수 없어서 여쭤봐야 하거든요. 돌아오시면 전화 드리라고 하면 어떨까요?

M: That’s great idea. Thanks for your assistance.
