M: So, what exactly happened to you to cause this problem?

남: 그래서 정확히 무슨 일 때문에 이 문제가 생긴 거야?

W: I was skiing down the slope when a rabbit suddenly ran out in front of me. I swerved to avoid it but crashed and broke my arm.

여: 스키를 타고 언덕을 내려가고 있을 때 토끼가 갑자기 앞에서 튀어나왔어. 옆으로 피하려고 했는데 충돌해서 팔이 부러졌어.

M: Ouch, that’s got to hurt a lot. At least you only have to wear that cast for about a month.

남: 저런, 많이 아팠겠다. 최소한 한 달 가량은 그 깁스를 하고 다녀야겠구나.

W: The doctor just told me that the operation on my leg was a complete success.

여: 의사가 방금 내 다리 수술이 완벽하게 성공했다고 말했어.

M: It’s great to know that you’re going to be up and walking in no time.

남: 곧 일어나서 걷게 될 거라니 잘됐다.

W: Totally. I thought they were going to put my leg in a cast, but all that I’ve got to wear is this brace. I should be better soon.

여: 정말 그래. 난 다리에 깁스를 할 줄 알았는데 이 부목만 대면 된대. 곧 괜찮아질 거야.

M: Did you really hurt yourself while you were jogging around the neighborhood?

남: 정말 동네 주변을 조깅하다가 다친 거야?

W: Yeah, I think I must have stepped on a rock or something because I twisted my ankle really badly. I can barely walk on it.

여: 응, 돌 같은 걸 밟은 것 같아. 발목을 정말 심하게 삐었거든. 거의 걷지도 못해.

M: Just be sure to put some ice on it, and that will make it feel a whole lot better.

남: 얼음을 좀 발목 위에 놓아 둬. 그럼 훨씬 좋아질 거야.

W: I can’t believe that I’m going to have to stay here for an entire week.

여: 일주일 내내 여기에 있어야 한다니 믿을 수가 없어.

M: Well, you’re lucky to be alive after that accident. Some of the passengers in the other car are hurt worse than you.

남: 음, 그런 사고 뒤에 살아있다는 게 행운이야. 다른 차에 타고 있던 승객 일부는 너보다 더 심하게 다쳤어.

W: I know, but I just want to get this cast off as soon as possible so that I can start to walk again.

여: 알아. 하지만 그냥 가능한 한 빨리 이 깁스를 풀고 다시 걸을 수 있으면 좋겠어.

M: When do you think that you’re going to be able to be on your feet again?

남: 언제쯤 다시 설 수 있을 것 같아?

W: It’s probably going to be quite a while. Until then, I’m going to have to stay in this wheelchair until my legs get better.

여: 아마도 꽤 시간이 걸릴 거야. 그때까진 다리가 좋아질 때까지 이 휠체어에 있어야 할 것 같아.

M: That’s some tough luck. I sure hope that your body heals as quickly as possible.

남: 운이 나빴어. 몸이 가능한 한 빨리 낫기를 진심으로 바란다.
