W: Coffee has been consumed by humans for many millennia and is currently one of the most widely drunk beverages on the planet. It comes from the beans of a variety of different plants, but all have their origins in the highlands of Ethiopia in eastern Africa. From there, coffee spread to numerous lands, with Africa, the Middle East, and South America being the largest present-day cultivators. The tradition of the coffeehouse started in England on the eighteenth century when businessman would gather at shipping offices and insurance companies to gossip and learn the latest news. Coffee became a popular beverage at these gatherings and it soon spread to people’s homes. Eventually, purpose-built coffeehouses emerged, and, by the twentieth century, coffee had become an integral part of the cultures of many lands. The current coffee craze embodies a multitude of blends and styles that can satisfy the taste of all coffee lovers.
